1. Opening the assistant
- A round chat button sits at the bottom-right corner of every page — a golden circle with a message icon on a dark background (or the reverse when the chat is open).
- Tap it once to open the assistant panel; tap the ✕ (or the same button) to close it.
- A small green dot appears on the button when you have received an answer but have the panel closed — a gentle reminder to read it.
💡 The assistant works on every page — news, videos, e-paper, charchapatra — so you can ask about anything you are reading without losing your place.
It never goes down. Behind the scenes the assistant is backed by six AI providers (Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, Cloudflare, YepAPI and NVIDIA). If one is busy or fails, the next answers automatically — readers simply never see the "assistant unavailable" message, and the moment a provider recovers it rejoins the chain. This is a headline capability no competing portal offers.
2. Asking a question
- Type your question in the input box at the bottom of the panel. Write it in any language you like — the assistant understands and answers in the site's current language (Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi or English) and follows the language you set on the site.
- Press the send button (paper-plane) or the Enter key.
- The assistant streams its answer word-by-word while a typing indicator shows it is working; while it streams you can press the stop button (spinner) to halt it.
- You can keep chatting — the assistant remembers the whole conversation and answers follow-ups in context.
Example questions that work well:
- “આજના મુખ્ય સમાચાર શું છે?” / “What are today's top stories?”
- “સુરતમાં છેલ્લા અઠવાડિયે શું બન્યું?” / “What happened in Surat last week?”
- “સોનાના ભાવ આજે કેટલા છે?” / “What is the gold price today?”
- “Show me the latest cricket news” (language switching works too)
3. Clickable citations — read the source, not just the summary
Every factual answer is built from the site's own content. Cited news items appear as clickable links inside the answer:
- Click the linked title to open the article right away (same window).
- Click the tiny external-link icon next to it to open the same article in a new window — handy when you want to keep your chat open while reading.
- You will never see raw URLs — links are always presented as readable text.
This is what makes the assistant trustworthy: every claim is one tap away from the original report.
4. Rating an answer — help the assistant get better
- Below every completed answer you'll find thumbs up (👍) and thumbs down (👎) buttons.
- Tap one to tell the team whether the answer was useful. The choice is remembered for that answer (the icon highlights) and is used to improve future responses.
- You can rate as many answers as you like; it takes one tap and is anonymous.
Your ratings directly feed the improvement loop — the more readers rate, the sharper the assistant becomes for everyone.
5. Conversation history & clearing
- The assistant remembers your conversation even after you close the panel or reload the page — your past chat comes back when you reopen it.
- If you are signed in, your history is personal to you; if you are not signed in, a shared browser-local history is used.
- To start fresh, tap the trash icon in the panel header — this erases the current conversation and returns the assistant to its greeting screen.
6. Status, errors & what they mean
| Indicator | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Green dot + “Online” | The assistant is ready | Just ask your question |
| Yellow dot + “Thinking” + bouncing dots | Your answer is being generated | Wait; you can stop it if it takes too long |
| Red error banner | Something went wrong (e.g. the assistant is briefly busy) | Wait a minute and retry; the message tells you what happened |
| Green dot on the closed button | You have an unread answer | Open the chat to read it |
7. Privacy & good behaviour
- Conversations are stored to power the assistant and improve it — treat the chat like a public assistant: don't enter passwords or other sensitive personal information.
- The assistant answers from the site's published content; for anything urgent or critical, always verify with the original article or an official source.
