πŸ—žοΈ EPaper β€” User Guide

Reading the newspaper online: daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and permanent editions β€” colour-coded, ordered by cadence, with calendar navigation, zoom and PDF download.

1. Opening the paper

2. Cadence colours & badges β€” know your edition at a glance

Each edition publishes on a cadence (frequency). The site gives every cadence a rainbow colour, shown as the coloured border of the edition's cover and a small badge pinned to the bottom-left corner of the card:

Cadence Colour What it means
Daily dark golden A fresh issue every day
Weekly amber One issue per week (e.g. a weekly digest)
Fortnightly teal One issue every two weeks (e.g. a magazine-style edition)
Monthly violet One issue per month (e.g. a monthly purti)
Yearly blue One issue per year (e.g. a special edition)
Permanent green Always available (e.g. a collector's issue)

Editions are always listed in cadence order: all daily first, then weekly, then fortnightly, then monthly, then yearly, and permanent last β€” so the paper you read today is always at the top.

3. When is an edition available?

An edition appears on the grid for every date inside its publishing period:

This is why a weekly digest you saw yesterday is still listed today, but a daily issue from last week is gone β€” open an older date on the calendar to browse what was published then.

4. Thumbnail display

Every epaper page thumbnail is always shown as an upright portrait newspaper page in a fixed 3:4 frame β€” thumbnails never flip to landscape. If a source scan happens to be wider than it is tall (for example a double-page spread), it is scaled to fit inside the portrait frame and centred with equal blank white space above and below β€” the entire page stays visible, never cropped or squashed. (When you actually open the page in the reader, a wide spread is still shown full-width.)

5. Reading an issue

The reader shows two views:

Full reader Large page view with a page-thumbnail sidebar on the left.

ℹ️ Editions name their page files with a 3–6 letter prefix (e.g. srt01.webp or rajkot01.webp). The reader resolves, orders and displays these automatically β€” nothing changes for you when an edition uses a longer prefix.

6. Zooming and panning

Click the yellow ZOOM button (top-right of the reader) to open the full-screen viewer:

7. Downloading

Two download buttons sit at the bottom-right of the reader:

Both re-encode the pages in your browser, so they work even when the page images arrive from elsewhere.

9. Date & tithi bar

The date bar at the top of the paper combines the newspaper date with the Hindu calendar:
