๐Ÿงพ Footer & Legal Links โ€” User Guide

The thin strip at the very bottom of every page. It carries the publication's legal documents and the credit for the people who built the site.

1. Where it is

The footer strip is the last thing on every page, below all the news. It has two halves:

On a narrow phone screen the two halves stack, with the legal links above the credit.

2. The legal links

Each of the four links opens the matching document written by the newsroom:

Link What it opens
Copyright The publication's copyright notice โ€” who owns the site's text, pictures and other material, and what may and may not be reused.
Privacy The privacy policy โ€” what information the site collects and how it is handled.
Terms The terms of use โ€” the rules for using the site.
Disclaimer The disclaimer โ€” the limits of the publication's responsibility for what it publishes.

The document opens in a full-page popup over the page you were reading, so you never lose your place. The popup has its own title bar, and long documents scroll inside it.

Closing the popup

You can close it in any of three ways:

Closing returns you to exactly where you were โ€” the page behind never moves.

3. The developer credit

The right-hand side of the strip credits the studio that designed and built the site. It is a single link: selecting any part of it โ€” the words or the logo โ€” opens the studio's own website in a new tab, so this site stays open behind it.

The logo is a small image loaded separately from that studio's website. If it does not appear, the credit's text is still there and the link still works.

4. Languages

The four link names, the words in the popup's title bar and every tooltip follow the language you chose on your profile page (Gujarati, English, Hindi or Marathi).

The documents themselves โ€” the copyright notice and the three policies โ€” are the newsroom's own Gujarati text, the same as the rest of the publication's content. They are shown exactly as written.

5. Troubleshooting

What you notice What it means
No strip at the bottom of the page Scroll to the very end of the page. If the strip is still missing, the page did not finish loading; a refresh brings it back.
A popup opens but says the information is not available The newsroom has not published that document yet. The other three still open normally.
The popup opened but the text looks cut off Long documents scroll inside the popup โ€” scroll within the popup rather than the page behind it.
The credit's logo is missing The logo is loaded from the studio's website, which may be briefly unreachable. The credit text and the link still work.
The links are in a different language from the documents Expected: the link names follow your profile language, while the documents are the newsroom's own Gujarati content.
